10 jingles remembered…..
There are certain advertisement jingles that are so deeply rooted within us.
Wedged by nostalgia, I take the privilege of presenting 10 of them. Hope these
jingles remind you of the good old days and weave the magic of yesteryears.
Do try to hum them as you read these lines.
Apologies that the copy of some of the jingles has been washed away from my grey
cells! Still an attempt has been made to give out as much as remembered.
The translation has been italicized.
Note: The jingles are as per my preference.
One of it, “The 5 star” is a great source of inspiration till date,
when the blue clouds hover over me! Thanks to whoever created that!

Anyone (Everyone) remembers the ad? The extremely cute girl whose boyfriend
(or brother or uncle:) hits a six during a cricket match, how she dodges the guard,
gives a perfect zig and reaches to congratulate her boyfriend (or brother or uncle)

(Raju your teeth are sparkling like pearls? Why not masterji, I use dabur’s

9. Mango frooti…Fresh and juicy
A relatively new one this is….
Still trying to figure out who this guy called DIGEN VERMA from the Frooti ad is?

10. Miley sur Mera Tumhara

To sur bane hamara…
Sur ki nadiya, behti sagaroo sein mileyyy

This is a long one......
(This became almost a national anthem. Especially when Mithun da, Jacky shroff??
And the villain Shetty clasp their hand together calling for unity…man that was raw inspiration!!! Sorry this I cannot translate in English.. one for my shortcomings and
other for the respect I have for this song!!!!
This sounds brilliant in the language it has been sung!!!

u remind of those days when our family will be huddled up before DD watching the movie on sunday evening, those ramayan and mahabharat mornings when the streets will be almost empty, when watching ad was as fun as watching any other prog on television... :)

Even the "newer" bajaj added which had a rock theme to the old song was good.
I would like to add a few ads my self.
1.Amul Cheese Spread.
2.Hutch theme song.
3.Sinkara.
4.Kissan Tomato Ketchup.
5.Only Vimal.
It is saids the ads made in India are suppose to be world chart toppers there are numerous ads which we all love

Great collection. Like the Amul series, there is the Limca series (limca before…limca after…).
Then there is another Bajaj ad—You just can’t beat a Bajaj. There is story about it, I got it during my college days, you also must have heard it before.
One day, Rahul Bajaj and JRD Tata was traveling from Bombay to Pune by train. Bajaj didn’t take the tickets as he thought since Tata was richer he would take care of it. Tata too didn’t take the ticket as he assumed that since he was old the young Bajaj must have taken it. When the ticket examiner came, both of them pointed at each other. But since they didn’t have the ticket the TTE fined them. Both of them got angry and started yelling at each other. At one point JRD became too angry and he raised his hands to beat Bajaj. But suddenly he stopped and lowered his hands. Do you know why? Because only then he remembered that “You just can't beat a Bajaj.”

although i have to agree with you about the appalling translation of the Lifebuoy jingle :)
i think you confused chusti(which means agility) with tandurusti (which means good health)
so a more acceptable translation would be:
"Lifebuoy protects health
where there is lifebuoy there is health"

hey. i remember some of these ads..and i've loved the Amul and the Nirma ones.
also, in today's ad world, the Titan 'Yes Sir' ad is brilliant.
I love the new Airtel one and the brilliant Tata Indicom one.
the rest are all Amitabh Bachan selling you pens and detergent.

hey gt thru ur blog wen serchin fr the hamara bajaj tune, i dont think tis can b called a jingle or so bt the doordarshan tune was the 1 tat identified wit the 80's ka television viewing the most.

hey they certainly reminded me of those good old day ads, tis 1 cannot b taken as a jingle bt the doordarshan tune before and after a show was the 1 tat can b most identified wit the 80's television viewing.

I remember that "lal danth manjan" ad. After all that dialogue, some last bencher exclaims "masterji aapka danth.." Later they stopped showing that line. My mom's explanation, "They must have realised they were encouraging teasing Teachers"
